Looking for some oomph in your organizing life? Here are 3 of my favorite books that I’ve read recently for overwhelming paper piles, people with ADHD (though the principles can be applied to all), and a whole home overhaul with a no-nonsense approach. Listen to them while decluttering for extra motivation and continue listening to help prevent that mid-project “OMG! What have I done?” feeling. Always remember, decluttering is a marathon, not a sprint. Every little step forward is progress!

The Paper Solution by Lisa Woodruff

If you feel overwhelmed by the papers coming in from your kids’ schools, your work, the mail, etc., you are not alone. Lisa’s book dives in with what to keep, shred, and recycle; how to manage your weekly to-dos and actionable papers; and which binders to keep to organize health history, your household operations, finances, etc. This book may be a good one to own a hardcopy of to highlight, make notes, and reference. Our counters, nightstands, and desks do not have to be overrun with piles of paper clutter. Free yourself of the burden, and be able to find what you are looking for when you need it.

Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD by Susan Pinsky

This book is great to listen to as an audiobook while you’re driving, cleaning, and decluttering. It’ll help motivate you and break down the how’s and why’s behind organizing that will stick. 3 takeaways that I think are critical for all homes – leave breathing room for your belongings, make things easy to see, and label your categories.

It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh

This book is from 2007, but still very applicable. Peter is from the TLC show Clean Sweep and has a no-nonsense approach to decluttering your home. You’ll be picking up a garbage bag and filling it with items throughout your home in no time.
